If you had a million dollars what would you do with it? One Indiana man couldn't believe it when his ATM receipt showed that he had $8.2 million dollars.
New Chicago volunteer firefighter Charles Calvin went to his local ATM Sunday to withdraw money from his Coronavirus relief check, but his ATM receipt showed he had $8.2 million dollars in his account.
Absolutely shocked Calvin asked the gas station attendant if the ATM had any issues. The gas station attendant said that it had been working just fine.
"I showed her the receipt and she looks at the receipt, she looks at me, looks back at the receipt," said Calvin, in a NBC 5 interview. "She said, 'You have this much money in your account?' I said, 'No, I am poor. I'm over here trying to get money out so I can pay my rent."
Calvin then called his fire department captain asking if he could use the same ATM and confirm if his statement was correct. The captain did confirm his account statement was correct and said the ATM seemed to be working fine.
"I'm a volunteer fireman living paycheck to paycheck just like everybody else is," said Calvin.
The following day Calvin called his bank asking about the huge mistake with his account. Come to find out that Calvin had over-drafted his account $100 and now had $13 dollars in his account.
The bank believes that there's an error with ATM, according to the Northwest Indiana Times.
"You would never expect to see an available balance for $8.2 million unless you're Bill Gates or a Rockefeller or something like that," said Calvin. "I wish there was $8.2 million in everybody's accounts."
