The television show has announced that they will continue their season, but due to the coronavirus, the crew, hosts, judges, and contestants will film episodes from their homes. It was previously announced that the season would be postponed.
The judges and Ryan Seacrest made individual, but similar, announcements on their social media pages regarding the changes. Katy Perry wrote, "How will @AmericanIdol continue? I'll be judging from California, @LionelRichie from LA, @LukeBryanOnline & @mrBobbyBones in Nashville, @RyanSeacrest will host from Cali! Contestants perform at their house! America will VOTE from HOME and choose a WINNER!"
The live rounds with the top 20 contestants will begin Sunday, April 26, on ABC.
