While school districts across the country are shutdown because of COVID-19 Coronavirus, parents are showing appreciation to school district custodians.

“I said we need to recognize that these staff members who are going into potential contamination and a disaster zone, really, and putting themselves at risk,” said Brooke Thomas in a CNN interview. “It’s already an under-appreciated job as it is, and not one that gets a lot of respect. It was a feel-good way to get people to recognize that.”

The fundraiser past their goal of $200 and raised $7,450 for Allen Brook School and Williston Central School.

This giving back campaign inspired Shawna Lidsky to start a GoFundMe for custodial staff at her kid's school in Shelburne, Vermont.

That fundraiser surged past their goal of $2000 and reached $4385 as of reporting today.
