I'm a boy mom, and I'm lucky to share the boys with my husband.
When you have a spouse who is as great of a dad as my husband is. . . you sometimes take a back seat.
I take a back seat because dad is fun, he's cool, they play football, basketball, wrestle. . .and I tell them to calm down, don't get hurt, eat your dinner, brush your teeth.
I actually don't mind sitting in the back seat though. It's from the back seat I watch the love my boys have for each other and how they look up to my husband and the people around them.
At the end of the day, I know they love and need me. After all, we spent the most special 9 months together. It's a bond that no words could ever describe.
In special moments, some big, some small . . .they need me.
My oldest called me in complete tears yesterday morning. He had a really really bad dream. That's when mom's up. Make him feel safe.
My role as a boy mom is to try to stay as cool as possible, not to be a 'boomer' (it's what kids call old people, I guess?) keep them fed, know all about sports, and most importantly feel more love than they can put into words.
It's nice to be needed but it is also such a beautiful view from the back.
