Going into the new year and new decade means ringing in good habits right?

Well, ring in 2020 by NOT abbreviating 2020 when signing documents.

"If you just write 1/1/20, one could easily change it to 1/1/2017 (for instance) and now your signature is on an incorrect document," explains Dusty Rhodes, Hamilton County Auditor.

This small piece of advice is being shared all over social media and passed on by many, even the likes of East Millinocket Police Department.

Just think about it, if someone wrote a check with an abbreviated 20, someone could also add a 21 at the end of it. Now, someone has an unexpected cost in 2021 and NOT 2020.
