Las Vegas is not just the entertainment capital of the world, it's also home to one of the largest convention industries. With over 16,000 rideshare drivers in Las Vegas, it's going to get a little bit harder to get around.

Today, May 8, 2019, drivers around the world are uniting and demanding a "Drivers Bill Of Rights". Drivers will turn off their app's in protest and are asking passengers to do the same.

"In Las Vegas, drivers are at a disadvantage. Most of my rides on the strip are hotel to hotel, with an average of only $3 per ride. It takes up to 15 min to complete each ride if not longer and I'm lucky to get 2-3 rides in an hour. This makes it very difficult for me to make a living. Add in the fact that 75% of the riders don't tip, makes it even harder." said David Fordham, a local Uber driver.

With Uber's private stock offering going public on Friday, the company is hoping to raise $9 billion, putting Uber's valuation in excess of $91 billion. Considering this, drivers are demanding fair pay, a commission cap of 10% ( some areas charge drivers up to 50% ) and they want a minimum matching pay scale similar to what Uber offers drivers in New York City. Drivers also want the right to organize without retaliation and for the rideshare companies to include a gas-price surcharge in the fare.

So, before you leave your hotel or house today, you might want to consider giving yourself a little more time to get to your destination.
