At the time of his passing, he was 41 years old.
World Of Outlaws confirmed Johnson's passing on their Twitter account.
In the statement, they revealed the driver was injured while racing on Saturday evening at Beaver Dam.
Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital after the crash, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries.
The racer's company also issued a statement following his death.
The message, also posted on Twitter, revealed the team is devastated.
