The One Thing Rascal Flatts Won’t Compromise On During The Holidays

Country artists are nearly always on the road these days and finding time for family can be hard. But when it comes to the holidays, the guys of Rascal Flatts make sure to be home.

For the most part, no public appearances are scheduled around Christmas for the trio. "Several years ago what we decided to do was take a certain section of the calendar and just block it out for the holidays so that we would make sure that we were with our families," Jay DeMarcus says through the group's record label. "And as we started to have kids it became even more important."

Being home for the holidays wasn't always the norm, however. "It's harder when you're a new artist [because] you're not so much in control of your schedule as when you are touring on your own." Jay continues. "[Then] you get to kind of dictate what your schedule will be. So it's just a commitment [we were eventually able to make] to each other and our families to try to take that chunk of time during the holidays and set it aside to be off and available for them."

Fans won't find Rascal Flatts on the road this holiday season, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy some Christmas cheer from the trio. Their 2016 holiday album The Greatest Gift Of All is available here.
