Rascal Flatts have been securing CMA nominations for 15 years and 2017 is no different.

Their first CMA win was 2002's Horizon Award and they're nominated this time for Vocal Group of the Year, an award they've won eight times so far. Lead singer Gary LeVox credits their songs for those successes, among other things. "We've written some really good ones and we've been blessed a million times over [with songs from] songwriters here in Nashville and all over the world, really," he says through the group's record label. "So we've been just fortunate to be able to tell people's stories and their life journeys through music. It all starts and ends with a great song and without that you really don't have anything."

The guys credit their fans, too, of course. "They're still with us every step of the way and it's incredible to see some of the younger fans [who've] grown up with us," Joe Don Rooney adds. "They've graduated college, moved on, have jobs [and] families of their own, [and they're] bringing out their kids now and it's pretty incredible."

The 51st Annual CMA Awards happen Wednesday night (11/8) on ABC. One the night's highlights is expected to be their collaborative performance with Dierks Bentley.
