Brantley Gilbert: My Fans Can Be Intimidating
Brantley Gilbert admits in a new interview that he has some pretty passionate fans, so much so that some artists are hesitant to open for him on tour. The “Bottoms Up” singer isn’t naming names, but at least one up-and-comer was so uncomfortable with the proposition that they declined the offer.
The artist in question was apparently worried about how they’d be received. “I think there was a verbal mention [of an invitation to someone] and I think the candy ass dropped ’cause they’re scared,” Brantley says in a conversation released by his record label. “People have this thing that they think that our crowd is going to like tar and feather them in public if they don’t like ’em which isn’t the case.”

Things can be a little bumpy sometimes, Brantley admits, but his advice is to just go for it. “It’s when they get out there and say, ‘Alright, it is what it is, I’m about to show you what I’ve got. I’m gonna leave it out there whether you like it or not.’ They eat it up! You know they may rag ’em a little bit, but they’ll respect ’em.’
