Carrie Underwood's hockey-playing hubby Mike Fisher has a big decision to make.

The 37-year-old NHL Nashville Predators center and team captain is considering retirement after 17 years on the ice and nearly 1,100 games, according to The Tennessean. "I love playing the game," he told the Nashville newspaper. "I love being around the guys. That to me is more important than a Cup. This year was the best year I've had as far as fun and being around just a great group of guys, a city that came together. There's so many positives." The Predators made it to the Stanley Cup Final this year, but ultimately lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

His teammates, meanwhile, would like to keep him. Fisher scored 18 goals and 42 points in 72 regular-season games, after all. "He's a great person," Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne told The Tennessean. "He makes people around him better. I think that's a great quality that he has. He's our captain, so still (a) big-time impact player."

Fisher's $8.8 million contract expires June 30 and heavy on his mind are his wife and their two-year-old son Isaiah. "There's other decisions and other people that are involved, so we'll take those into account," Fisher said.

Prior to the last game, he seemed to go further. "Everyone wants to win in this game, no one probably more than me," he told the paper. "But there's other things. At the end of the day, this is a game. It's an important part of my life, but it's not everything."
